Swinford Park
Swinford Park is one of my favorite places in Plainfield, Indiana—my husband and I play pickleball there all the time! This 25-acre community park has something for everyone. It features eight dedicated pickleball courts, four tennis courts, and several lighted baseball and softball diamonds perfect for local games and recreation. Families love the huge playground, and the large picnic shelter is ideal for birthday parties, reunions, or casual get-togethers. Dog owners will appreciate the nearby Bark Park, a secure off-leash dog park that requires registration and a keycard for access. Whether you're into sports, outdoor gatherings, or dog-friendly spaces, Swinford Park is one of Plainfield’s top spots for year-round fun.
W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park
W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park, opened in 2021, is one of Hendricks County’s newest parks, spanning over 70 scenic acres of woodlands, prairie areas, and ponds. It offers something for everyone with over two miles of trails, two fishing ponds, a nature-themed playground, and even a par-60, 18-hole disc golf course. A 30-foot observation hill provides a panoramic view of the park and doubles as a sledding hill in winter. The park also features picnic areas and two large shelters for family gatherings. In the fall, the park’s vibrant foliage makes it a favorite backdrop for senior pictures – both of my kids had their pictures taken here.
